Coffee Garland

We just about went gaga over this handmade coffee filter garland wedding idea by Pam Garrison. If you’re looking for an eye catching, simple and eccentric DIY wedding day project, this garland could easily be incorporated into your color scheme or wedding decor.

Pam says she was inspired to create this idea after seeing a gorgeous garland strung in an Anthropologie store window display. Using the basic {and cheap} materials of coffee filters, tissue paper, extra scraps, dye and string, she created this delicate and lovely garland.

Though Pam doesn’t give specific DIY instructions on her site, I think it’s safe to say that the process is pretty straight forward and foolproof. Basically, make a hole in the center of the coffee filters/tissue paper/scrap paper and then thread the string through. After each bundle, tie a knot in the string and then continue the process.

Consider putting your own twist on the idea by using decorated cupcake liners, ribbons, stringing on some striking jewels or by lightly misting your garland with glitter spray. The sky is certainly the limit with your own design.

What are your thoughts of this DIY wedding idea? Would you consider incorporating coffee filters into your wedding day decor?

Hair Comes The Bride

Wedding hair accessories may be one of the smaller details of your wedding day, but that doesn’t mean they’re any less important. There are countless styles and designs to choose from – flowers, feathers, combs, pins, birdcage veils, hats, tiaras, headbands – the list goes on and on.

Keep in mind the detailing of your gown when making your final decision on wedding accessories. Does your dress have pearls, crystals, lace or a splash of color on it? A cute idea is to coordinate these details into your wedding day accessories to keep your look balanced and beautiful.

Another cute idea is to work your theme into your wedding hair accessories. Planning a summer or beach themed wedding? Check out these cute options we’re lovin.

What about throwing caution into the wind and going for something totally over the top, like peacock feather hair accessories? These beautiful hair accessories offer a classy yet very powerful pop of peacock.

So when picking what to pop in your hair, definitely pick and choose on the basis of your own style. Also consider what will fit your theme and wedding dress. As a rule of thumb – if your going for a simple wedding dress then you’ll be able to pull off a more extravagant hair piece and if your going for a more elaborate dress then opt for a more simple hair piece.

The Smell Of Summer

When we spotted this summer backyard bridal shower wedding idea on The Sweetest Occasion, we knew we had to share it.

This bridal shower theme is just so beautiful, isn’t it? From the picturesque outdoor setting, to the classic table scape and the big bright black-eyed susans, this relaxed bridal shower idea radiates a simplistic, fun, elegant and intimate atmosphere all wrapped up into one.

The best part of this idea (besides the yummy banana cake recipe that follows!) is that this super sweet bridal shower is totally cost effective. All of the outdoor wedding decor was put together by Amanda from i am baker for under $20!

Want the “how to”?

Use mason jars and vases that you already have (or buy them on the cheap at the nearest thrift store), use a table you already own (the more used and rustic looking the better!), any old white tablecloth will do, home bake your own goodies from scratch, and if you aren’t lucky enough to have wild black-eyed susans in your back yard, this flower is readily available in flower shops.

Remember that this bridal shower idea makes such a statement because it’s the perfect example of how “less is truly more” – keep it simple ladies and make sure to try the cake!
