The Smell Of Summer

When we spotted this summer backyard bridal shower wedding idea on The Sweetest Occasion, we knew we had to share it.

This bridal shower theme is just so beautiful, isn’t it? From the picturesque outdoor setting, to the classic table scape and the big bright black-eyed susans, this relaxed bridal shower idea radiates a simplistic, fun, elegant and intimate atmosphere all wrapped up into one.

The best part of this idea (besides the yummy banana cake recipe that follows!) is that this super sweet bridal shower is totally cost effective. All of the outdoor wedding decor was put together by Amanda from i am baker for under $20!

Want the “how to”?

Use mason jars and vases that you already have (or buy them on the cheap at the nearest thrift store), use a table you already own (the more used and rustic looking the better!), any old white tablecloth will do, home bake your own goodies from scratch, and if you aren’t lucky enough to have wild black-eyed susans in your back yard, this flower is readily available in flower shops.

Remember that this bridal shower idea makes such a statement because it’s the perfect example of how “less is truly more” – keep it simple ladies and make sure to try the cake!

Faux Flowers No Longer A Faux Pas

Though opting for silk was previously considered a social flower faux pas, silk wedding flowers are quickly becoming a top choice for brides to be.

With today’s wedding budget guidelines estimating to spend between 5% and 10% of your total budget on floral decor, this means that if you are planning a $20,000 wedding, by standard you should allocate between $1,000 and $2,000 for your flowers. Not cheap.

On the flip side, silk flowers can be a lot more affordable. Plus a major advantage to choosing silk flowers is that unlike their real counterparts, silk arrangements can be made weeks in advance and they will still look just as good as the day you purchased them. Another important thought to consider is that fake flowers will not aggravate the potential allergies of your guests. Finally, real flowers are delicate and wilt very quickly. By opting for silk wedding flowers, you will ensure that your flowers can deal with any weather on your special day.

Here’s some of our favourite silk flower bridal bouquets.

Couples everywhere are choosing silk for a wide variety of reasons – perhaps they are unable to find their favorite flower due to the season, they are looking for a way to trim their budget, or they want to keep their flowers as a memento of their special day. Whatever your reason for considering silk flowers, remember to choose quality over quantity.

Colourful Wedding Styling

We adore all the lovely wedding ideas within this wedding and the colourful wedding decor.

Who says you have to stick to traditional wedding ideas or two or three wedding colours? Certainly not us! We’re crazy over colourful wedding decor and this wedding executed it brilliantly.

The big design hit has got to be the colourful thrift store bottles and vases. Plus the amazing green grass table runners. Seriously delightful.
