Eves On The River {Lisa + Matthew}

This Queensland wedding is gorgeous and packed with lovable modern photography.

Lisa and Matthew tied the knot and celebrated at the lovely Eves on the River, which is located in Brisbane.

We’re smitten with the laid back outdoor ceremony, the bold bridesmaid dresses, the Henry Roth wedding dress, the charming couple, the wonderful photography, the DIY decorations and the DIY flowers.

Lisa explained the DIY details, “One of my close friends was a HUGE help to me. She was responsible for all of the decorations in the restaurant. We shopped together for the vases and frames, and she did all of the flower arrangements and candles. The best thing about having her help was that she knows both of us very well – and the decorations were a reflection of us. She did an amazing job. She also did the bouquets and buttonholes. She watched a Youtube video and decided she could do it – so she did.”

David Ferguson Photography did a fabulous job at capturing everything. Just feast your eyes on the stunning wedding pictures.

Lisa explained the decor and styling, “We were very much going for a classic look. Eves on the River is a beautiful restaurant with crisp white tablecloths and a gorgeous view of the river, so we didn’t need to do much. We went with lots of glass, beautiful fresh white flowers and candlelight. We had vases of all different shapes and sizes, with all different types of white flowers. To top if off each of the tables featured votive candles and tea light candles.”

From the Bride:

What made your wedding unique?

“The music playlist played throughout the wedding and reception was actually compiled by the wedding guests. In the lead up to wedding we asked each of our guests to supply a song of their choice which would be played throughout the wedding.

We originally did it as we did not want a band or DJ – and we didn’t want a ‘typical’ wedding playlist. However, it actually turned into a feature of the wedding, everyone was very excited to hear it. We printed a list of everyone’s name and song choice – so when each song came on we all knew exactly whose it was. The nice thing is that we will have it forever.”

What was the biggest challenge?

“To be honest – we didn’t come up against any challenges.

My sister was my Chief bridesmaid and she lives and works in Canada with her partner, so this proposed a challenge when it came to bridesmaids dresses.

We looked at options and in the end decided that we would wait until she arrived (the week of the wedding), and shop for them then. This seamed to stress other people out more than it did me. We knew that colour was not an issue – the colour theme around them was one of simplicity, so we didn’t think this would be too much of an issue.

It turned out perfectly, the second dress they tried on we bought – and they looked stunning!

It’s funny, that was the biggest challenge.”

What was your favourite moment?

“Definitely walking down the aisle to Matt.

I walked myself down the aisle – I wanted to give myself to Matt, not be given to Matt. We were already in a committed and serious relationship, like so many modern couples and we felt this was right for us.

I actually walked down the aisle to the wrong song! In my mind the song I chose would have had a bigger impact on how I felt. To be honest, I paid no attention. I could have walked down the aisle to any song – it would have made no difference as I was walking down to Matt.”

What’s your advice?

“Don’t sweat the small stuff. Take care of the big stuff and the small stuff will take care of itself.”

Congratulations Lisa and Matthew and thank you for sharing your stunning wedding pictures.
