Destination Bali {Chrystal + Joel}

We’re thrilled that this gorgeous couple chose to wed in exotic Bali, because we now get to share their wonderful wedding pictures with you.

Chrystal and Joel wed on Nusa Lembongan, which is a stunning island off Bali. They chose an amazing waterfront venue at Padang Padang and “shades of the sea, ivory, sand and soft pink” for their colour palette.

Their wonderful theme was “Fruits of the Spirit.” Chrystal explained, “We DIY’ed our wedding with the theme ‘Fruits of the Spirit’ in mind, using words from Bible verses on what the ‘Fruits of the Spirit’ are – Love , Kindness, Forgiveness, Peace, Trust, Faith etc. [We used the words] for the table names and on the bubbles to infuse them with good intentions.”

We love that the bride and groom walked down the aisle barefoot and that everything about this wedding screams – love and casual chic.

Every itty-bitty glorious detail was captured by atdusk photography. Read all about the details from Chrystal after the jump.

What made your wedding unique?

“Our friends and family from all over the world being in one place together, all the help on the day, the enthusiasm of our Celebrant {Jeff Ryan}, our personal vows and the stunning venue overlooking the perfect surf.

Our celebrant, Jeff Ryan, helped us to write our own vows and create our ceremony specifically for us. This was probably the most important detail of the wedding that made it special and unique.”

Did you DIY any details?

“We collected special stones on our beach walks and hand painting them with love for our wedding favors. We also DIY’ed all of the flowers, bouquets, boutonniere, leis, and table flowers with the help of the beautiful bridesmaids.

We DIY’ed our table names on Photoshop and used artwork we found on the internet by an artist whom allowed us to use her artwork titled ‘anchor your love in the skies above’- we loved it and it really helped us to capture the essence of our theme as well.”

What was your biggest challenge?

“Logistics. We were in Australia and trying to organize a wedding overseas in a non English speaking country, Indonesia, was challenging. Having a wedding planner and friends there really made things easy for us.”

What was your favorite moment?

“Walking down the stairs and seeing Joel my husband-to-be looking so very handsome with all of our guests seated on the sarongs we laid out, the live music playing by our dear friends, and sweet smell of flowers everywhere was truly a miraculous moment and one I will never forget.”

Where did you get your gorgeous wedding dress?

“One off [dress] made in Manly, Sydney Australia.”

What’s your advice?

“Get started as early as you can, enjoy it all, create what you can and give your friends and family jobs to do. [Friends and family] love being a part of your vision and its even more fun then.”

Any additional information you would like to share?

“We are so blessed. Our wedding would not have been the magical event it was, without the help of our dearest friends and family.

[Plus] makeup artistry, photography, videography, lei sewing, singing, playing, organizing, flower arranging, guest wrangling, band finding, pool diving, moral support, MC’ing, encouragement, smiles and laughter.

These were the ingredients of magic and wonder that made our wedding so very special.”

Congratulations Chrystal and Joel and thank you for sharing your lovey wedding story and wedding pictures.
