Merri and Peter’s Sophisticated Wedding 28.07.2014

There’s plenty of top-notch sophistication and creativity going on in this wedding, which we love.

Merri and Peter live in Manhattan, New York, and decided to wed in the bride’s hometown of Sarasota, Florida. They decided they wanted to bring a taste of the big city down to their wedding location and so they had six custom wedding cakes flown in from Manhattan for their big day.

This lovely couple chose to wed at a Phillippi Creek Park located on the shores of Phillippi Creek. The 60-acre natural area park is south of downtown Sarasota and features environmental and historic attractions including the historic Edson Keith Mansion, were the couple held their reception.

Bryan of Black & Hue Photography captured the day and commented, “They are absolutely head-over-heels in love with each other and I was honored to be there to capture [this] moment.”

Melissa and Matt’s Classic Backyard Wedding 21.07.2014

We seriously dig this couples healthy appreciation of beautiful wedding details.

Melissa and Matt opted to have a classic and intimate backyard wedding overlooking the bay. Their wedding was held at a private residence in Florida on a Thursday and was attended only by immediate family.

Our favourite thing about this wedding: The elegant florals that were lovingly created by the bride and her family, the intimate reception seating arrangement, and the pretty wedding cake.

Ciara and Cormac’s Relaxed Irish Wedding 14.07.2014

We love the idea of a couple that knows how to prioritise when it comes to a wedding. “When planning the day the only thing that concerned us was feeling happy, relaxed, comfortable and able to have fun. Everything we chose, we chose because it would allow us to do this. We weren’t concerned with colour schemes or tiny details because we knew they weren’t going to make or break the day and we decided to choose the easy option and not worry about these things,” says Ciara.

Cormac proposed to Ciara on her birthday while they were living in Chicago. Cormac planned a night away in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin to celebrate her birthday. “We went for dinner and afterwards back at the hotel, he asked me to check the meal receipt to see that everything was right. He had written it on the receipt,” recalls Ciara.

The lovely couple chose to have a Catholic ceremony. Ciara explains, “We had both been brought up as Catholics, went our own ways with our beliefs, went against religion for years, but in maturity (relatively speaking) we realised that spirituality has its place at the heart of all religious doctrines and we wanted spirituality to be at the heart of our marriage ceremony.”

For the reception the couple chose to have it at Kilshane House and to have a starter of Celeriac and Truffle oil soup, Pig on a Spit for the main and Tarte Tatin for dessert. They had speeches after the main course, but before dessert because they knew that everyone would be famished and they didn’t want to leave guests waiting for dinner.

What was your favourite part of the day?

“My favourite parts of the day were the photo shoot straight after the ceremony, which was just myself and Cormac, and then the drinks reception which we were lucky enough to have outside while listening to Jazz followed by traditional Irish music. Nobody wanted to leave it, to go for dinner.”

What wedding advice do you have to share?

“If you like a supplier, book them. You picked them because you like what they do, so as I said, stand back and allow them to do what they are best at. At the end of the day, they do know way more than us. This also reduces stress. Trust that your day will flow, if you allow it to. Also, it’s not true that it will be the best day of your life, because there will be so many to follow. But it is the start of the best days of your life.”

What does marriage mean to you both?

“Marriage is two people saying to one another, I’m there for you. Committing to this each and every day. And it is no effort. It’s natural, easy and beautiful. We love it. Of course you can do this without a wedding or a ceremony, but by dedicating a whole day to it, you allow all your loved ones to become a part of that love and commitment. This is something we didn’t understand until we got engaged.”

Congratulations Ciara and Cormac and thank you for sharing your brilliant wedding photos with One Stylish Bride.
