Savvy Brides 10.11.2011

We’ve got such a pretty treat for you this morning!

Mandy of Savvy Brides sent over a shoot of pretty designer wedding dresses. For those of you that don’t know, Mandy is the brainchild behind Savvy Brides, which is a fabulous Sydney boutique bridal service that specializes in buying and selling pre-loved second-hand designer wedding dresses.

Mandy explained the concept behind the shoot, “We wanted a lux feel to the shoot but for everything to be very simple so that the focus would just be on the beautiful dresses!”

Nadean of Photography by Nadean captured the shoot, while Agents of Beauty did the lovely hair and makeup.

Here’s our favourite wedding dresses from the shoot.

Fiorenza 2012 Bridal Collection 14.10.2011

The latest bridal collection from Fiorenza is a dream come true.

Fourth-generation designer Pina Fiorenza says that the 2012 collection is “a culmination of eras coming together.” She also dedicated it to her mother, an Italian widow with two young children who immigrated to Australia and became known for creating wonderful dresses.

The collection holds deeper meaning for Pina, as it marks the fourth anniversary of her mum’s passing: “I found myself reflecting on the fact that, despite possessing great strength, she never lost her soft femininity; raising two children in a foreign-speaking country while forging a successful career.”

It’s clear that fashion is in the family – her aunt also founded one of Italy’s first design schools, her cousin works with Valentino, and her sister is a famous couturist in Melbourne.

Here’s a sneak peek at the lovely wedding dresses from the Fiorenza 2012 Bridal collection…

“Every year I speak to over 500 brides around Australia, and so in designing this collection I reflected on their feedback, and I revisited the gowns I’ve created over the past two decades,” Pina says.

“I then merged these two influences to create beautiful, simple, core designs that are the best of the best; the lines are soft and fun but the patterns are strong, deliberate and complex.”

The bespoke fabrics and couture detailing are just to die for! We love the 1940s and 50s inspiration for this collection, and the fact that the designs are vintage yet still very fresh and elegant.

The Fiorenza 2012 Bridal Collection will be available in January 2012. Fiorenza has its own stores and is carried by stockists all over Australia. For more wedding inspiration, visit their online shop.

Rosalynn Win Wedding Dresses 06.10.2011

The Rosalynn Win wedding dress collection is absolutely gorgeous. Each gown embodies the essence of haute couture.

Rosalynn has extensive experience in the couture and costume industry. She trained in Paris and then Australia, eventually becoming recognised for her efforts in the Australian fashion industry with various awards, such as the Flair Fashion Award, Golden Gown Award, and Youth Fashion Competition Award. She then went on to advanced studies in theatre costume, which allowed her to create costumes for many theatre productions and assist the performing arts community.

All her wedding dresses are exquisitely handcrafted from luxurious fabrics, reflecting high fashion in each of the beautiful intricate details. Some of the pieces in this collection remind us of flamenco dresses, with figure-hugging bodices and layered flouncy skirts, light and airy and vivacious. All throughout the Rosalynn Win Bridal Collection, there is a feeling of grace, movement, and sensuality.
