Sunshine Coast {Sarah + Neil}

Sarah and Neil were married on the 17th of December 2010 at the Novotel Twin Waters on the Sunshine Coast. The ceremony was held at Pandanus Lawns with the reception at Lily’s on the Lagoon. The talent behind the lens, which captured these wonderful wedding photos, was Tim from Tim Harris Photography.

The beautiful bride shared a few details with us, which you can find after the gorgeous wedding photos.

What made your wedding unique? “We had each other’s rings engraved with a special message that we didn’t look at until the day. Even though the boys forgot the rings, luckily the best man was able to get the attention of his wife during the ceremony to take off her wedding band so we were married with their yellow gold rings instead of our white gold rings. None of our guests noticed until we told them at the reception. I’m sure he’ll never live it down but it was a great cover up. Everyone thought he’d walked over and got our rings from their little baby. It was a mad rush just before the Ceremony as I had family phoning around telling everyone to get down there before the rain/storm so it’s no wonder they forgot the rings. Our celebrant did another ring blessing shortly after our ceremony with our real rings once they had been located!

We also wrote a letter to each other that we opened the morning of our wedding; it was so lovely to read my letter from Neil and was reassuring to know that he was going to turn up! I must have read that letter at least 5 times that day to help calm my nerves. You’ll never believe but on the bottom of Neils letter (from me) it was written in bold & capital letters: DONT FORGET THE RINGS. We also chose to do a “lolly buffet” as our favours. This was a really big hit and everyone raved about it!

Your biggest challenge? Trying to relax. It’s not easy planning the perfect day, the day you’ve been dreaming of your whole life. I was so stressed on the day when the weather started to turn, but thankfully we had a dry ceremony. Also take it all in and breathe. Stop what you’re doing and look around. The day is over before you know it and all you have left is a lifetime of wonderful memories to cherish.”

Your favourite moment? “The Ceremony, it was perfect. We were both so happy and the rain held off until we had finished, which was a huge concern on the day being an outdoor Wedding. It made it all the more special to be surrounded by our family and Friends. Also, my dance with my Dad. We danced to butterfly kisses by Bob Carlisle. I knew how much it meant to my Dad and it meant so much to me as well.”

Your advice? “Be organised, and at the end of the day it’s your Wedding so do it your way! You don’t want to live a lifetime regretting doing something someone else wanted for you. I had a “Wedding Folder” which held all my ideas, receipts etc. It went with me everywhere and I knew exactly where to find everything as I divided it into sections ie: Ceremony, Reception, Flowers, Rings, My dress, Mens suits, dj etc. Also, we were able to cut costs by using Friends/Family for Hair and Make-up, Photography, Cakes and videography which saved us a lot of money!”
