Naval Postgraduate School Wedding {Kailia + Manuel}

We love a good romance story and it doesn’t get better then Kaila and Manuel’s story. Their wedding photographer Amanda of Hearts and Horseshoes Photography explains, “imagine meeting your soul mate when you are 10 because you live across the street from each other. And your maid of honor was there since the beginning and recounts in her speech the days when you rode on the pegs of his BMX. Your dad’s speech is accompanied by a slideshow of pictures of you both as kids and in high school. This story [is] one of those stories that make love so sweet and Goosebumps so prevalent!”

Kaila and Manuel wed at Naval Postgraduate School in California and had a lovely peacock theme. “Peacocks roam the grounds of the Naval Postgraduate School, so we decided to incorporate that into our wedding. The main colours used were peacock blue and metallic bronze,” says Kaila.

Kaila shared some more details with us about the day…

Did you DIY any details?

“We DIYed several details. The invitations, flowers (other than my bouquet), reception decorations, favors, guestbook, make-up.”

What was your biggest challenge?

“Our biggest challenge was the flowers and invitations.”

What was your favorite moment?

“It is so hard to pick a favorite moment. I loved every single moment of our wedding! But, our favorite moment as a couple was the first dance. We actually took dance lessons and learned our dance to the song ‘Lucky’ by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat. We both put so much into the dance and were so happy to share it with our family and friends.”

What’s your advice?

“As most brides tell you, enjoy every moment of your wedding because it goes by so quickly. There is so much stress leading up to the big day, but you have to let all of it go. I made sure to tell myself the morning of [the wedding] that I was not going to let anything get to me. From the moment you wake up on the day of your wedding, put all of your stresses aside and realize that no matter what happens, your wedding is going to be perfect. Ultimately, it is about sharing the most special moment of your lives with family and friends, all of the little stuff no longer matters.”

Congratulations Kailia and Manuel and thank you for sharing your extraordinary love story and wedding pictures with One Stylish Bride.
