Picnic Engagement {Chantelle + Nick} http://www.onestylishbride.com/engagements/chantelle-nick/ http://www.onestylishbride.com/engagements/chantelle-nick/#comments Mon, 14 May 2012 23:00:02 +0000 Marcela http://www.onestylishbride.com/?p=26823 We just love Chantelle and Nick’s engagement photos and engagement story. Plus, this gorgeous bride-to-be remains us of singer Lana Del Rey, which we love.

Chantelle and Nick have been dating since high school in 2001. Chantelle recalls, “he asked me out before the final bell when I was in year 10. We have been through a lot together, he’s my best friend, but we wanted to wait until we were
 both ready for this commitment.”

Nick proposed right before their 10-year anniversary. Chantelle explains, “We agreed to meet for lunch at my place, but at the last minute he changed and said he had organised a picnic with our puppy Bailey at a park near his house. Knowing that I would never say no to a picnic, I agreed to change plans and met him there. Unfortunately someone had parked me in and I was over an hour and a half late.”

engagement-photos

When Chantelle arrived at Nicks house she found that “he had moved all the furniture in his living area and lit dozens of tea light candles a few hours earlier, scattered rose petals and a had a big bouquet of flowers waiting for me. When I entered the house He guided me in closed eyes, but I actually opened them too soon and saw ‘will you marry me?’ spelt out with the candles before he could get down on one knee. I was already in tears and said ‘yes’.”

Despite being late, Chantelle still got her romantic picnic. “As promised, I got my picnic – on the floor of the living room with a stunning yellow diamond engagement ring! Hand made by a jeweller friend using some of his late grandmothers gold melted to form the band. It was so special and so perfect,” says Chantelle.

The shoot took place at Estate of John’s Lake, which is an Estate build in 1928. The stunning location features 18 lush acres, a 6000 sq ft. home with carriage house, gazebo and all the luxuries one could imagine.

We’re incredibly smitten with all the different wedding table setups, the over-the-top wedding cakes, all the pretty bouquets and the charming venue.

Heights Theatre and Art Gallery Wedding {Brittany + Casey} http://www.onestylishbride.com/real-weddings/heights-theatre-and-art-gallery-wedding-brittany-casey/ http://www.onestylishbride.com/real-weddings/heights-theatre-and-art-gallery-wedding-brittany-casey/#comments Thu, 10 May 2012 23:00:14 +0000 Marcela http://www.onestylishbride.com/?p=26072 Three cheers for this lovely DIY wedding!

Brittany and Casey wed at Heights Theatre and Art Gallery in Houston, Texas, United States. “We love seeing great movies together and loved the idea of getting married in a movie theatre. It had a great feel with the artwork and it was located in the Heights where we first moved in together,” says Brittany.

wedding-pictures

The couple chose to have a DIY wedding with a movie theme and blue and red details. Brittany explains, “We tried to play off the movie theme with the decorations and made this into a total DIY wedding. I bought and made my own flower jars for the tables. I made my bridal bouquet when I had found I couldn’t get the peonies I had ordered in time. On Etsy people sell bouquets made out of antique brooches. I decided to make one by going to forever 21 and buying bracelets and taking them apart, rings, pins, etc.”

But the biggest and absolute cutest DIY project the bride undertook was to fold thousands of paper cranes. She explains, “I folded a thousand paper cranes for our ceremony backdrop. I had heard of the idea before and absolutely fell in love with it. I bought a huge stack of 12″ by 12″ paper from Michael’s and cut each page into four 6″ by 6″ squares and folded each into a crane, and then strung them together using beads, fishing string and a needle. It took several months! My awesome friends hung them on the alter before the wedding.”

“I also found a cute fingerprint guestbook on Etsy and decided to make my own with a movie theme, I decided to go with the Up Movie house with the fingers being the balloons. I bought a frame at Michael’s and I drew the house myself on paper with fine tip markers and got finger paint and picture holder stands from Michael’s.” Brittany adds, “The art inside this place was incredible and was a total compliment to our theme and creative personalities.”

The breathtaking duo wed at San Giorgio dei Greci Church, followed by their reception at Ca’Sagredo in Venice, Italy. Ca’Sagredo is a 14th century Palace that has been declared a national monument and preserves the stunning untouched beauty of an ancient noble residence. The amazing venue sits majestically on the banks of the Grand Canal and consists of a private palazzo, a noble residence, a museum, and a luxury hotel.

The couple picked this wonderful location and venue for a secret elopement and managed to style and co-ordinate their wedding impeccably, but it’s little wonder given that the bride is a talented wedding planner for Stella and Moscha. They did an absolutely amazing job, don’t you think?

Kelly and Derek tied the knot at St. Clements Anglican Church, followed by their reception at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The couple chose “beachy chic” as their wedding theme and incorporated it tastefully throughout their wedding day. They included starfish, lanterns, surfboards, a blue and white colour scheme, and even a yacht club.

The couple kindly answered some questions about their chic wedding day….

What was your favourite wedding moment?

Kelly: “The entire day was so amazing I don’t know if I have one specific favourite moment. Saying our vows was probably the most emotional part of my day, and getting a dead mouse and trap stuck to me dress was probably the funniest.”

Derek: “The moment I saw my bride for the first time when she walked up to the front steps of the church.”

What did you like most about planning your wedding?

Kelly: “I loved all our beach themed details, the starfish, lanterns, surfboard – all the little elements that reflected both Derek’s and my personalities and passions. But 14 months to plan was far too long and you end up wanting the whole thing to be over. If I could do it again, I’d do six months max.”

Derek: “Having all our plans and decisions that we had made while planning the wedding day come together leading up to and during the wedding day.”

If you could give future brides and grooms one piece of advice, what would it be?

Kelly: “Include your groom and create a day that reflects the two of you as a couple. Don’t worry about what other people did at their weddings or what family wants – make it about you and your fiancé. Include the elements that you want and don’t stress out about family or other people’s expectations.”

Derek: “Make your bride/groom’s and your desires the most important factor when making decisions about the wedding.”

Congratulations Kelly and Derek, we adore all your beautiful wedding pictures. Best wishes for the future!

Kirkland House Wedding {Steph + Mike} http://www.onestylishbride.com/real-weddings/kirkland-house-wedding-steph-mike/ http://www.onestylishbride.com/real-weddings/kirkland-house-wedding-steph-mike/#comments Tue, 01 May 2012 23:00:16 +0000 Marcela http://www.onestylishbride.com/?p=26274 It doesn’t get much better than combining shades of pastels, handmade details, and a table loaded with cookies.

Steph and Mike got hitched at Kirkland House, Ladner, British Columbia, Canada. Steph recalls, “People really loved being able to use so much of the Kirkland House grounds for lounging and games. Since there were over 220 folks attending, I wanted everyone to be able to find interesting areas to socialize – pond lounge, stump lounge, bar hightop table lounge, dining room table, yellow mini table, picnic tables, photobooth, gazebo bar etc. Although this wedding was a lot of work, it was worth every second. We’re still hearing how much people enjoyed all the details of our wedding. The neat part as well was that, although we weren’t able to spend much time with everyone individually, through the details, everyone left knowing us a little bit better. The personal touches really do leave a lasting impression.”

Steph explained just how many hours it took to create that lasting impression, “6 days to put together all the pieces on site, 1 year to collect and make odds and ends, 12 truckloads to drop everything off, and 2.5 hours to take everything down.”

wedding-pictures

Steph wore a stunning Melissa Sweet “Mila” wedding dress, which was graciously gifted to her by her dear friend Carly Nelson. It was then altered by Jill MacKinnon located in Ladner, British Columbia, Canada.

All the incredible details were captured by Meghan + Tanya from Sweet Heirloom Photography, who had this to say, “The majority of this wedding was DIY. The list truly does go on and on. Steph did an outstanding job. From the bridal hairpieces and ceremony French door entrance to the ceremony altar and head table frame backdrop. There was no detail left untouched. Each centrepiece was different and beautifully unique.

We think that Steph and Mike’s wedding was truly the most detailed oriented wedding we have ever been to. They poured so much love and effort into every single area of their big day. It made shooting their wedding so much fun. We just ran around like kids in a candy store trying to capture everything.”

The Marriage Celebrant http://www.onestylishbride.com/ceremony/the-marriage-celebrant/ http://www.onestylishbride.com/ceremony/the-marriage-celebrant/#comments Mon, 30 Apr 2012 23:00:10 +0000 Marcela http://www.onestylishbride.com/?p=26906 marriage-celebrants

Today we’re putting the spotlight on marriage celebrants.

Plain and simple, a marriage celebrant is a person who is authorised {meaning registered} by the Australian Government to perform legal marriages according to the Marriage Act 1961. In a nutshell, a wedding celebrant conducts ceremonies and attends to all the legal paperwork pertaining to the marriage.

So how then do you find the perfect marriage celebrant for your wedding?

Ensure that your proposed celebrant is authorised as a marriage celebrant under the Marriage Act 1961, as only authorised or registered marriage celebrants have the authority to perform marriages in Australia.

Consider whether you prefer a religious marriage celebrant or a civil marriage celebrant?

A celebrant may be a representative of a religious organisation {often known as a religious marriage celebrant} or someone providing secular or non-religious weddings {often known as a civil marriage celebrant}.

Once you decide on what type of celebrant you prefer, you should make an appointment to meet the celebrant and make sure that they are a good fit. Once you’ve picked your celebrant, you should confirm your wedding arrangements in writing with plenty of time before the day.

Next, consider what type of ceremony you want?

Marriage celebrants tend to offer a choice of ceremonies. They also tend to assist couples to write their own ceremonies if that’s what you prefer. What’s most important is that you feel comfortable with your celebrant and feel confident that he/she suits your needs and the type of wedding you are planning.

Now you’re ready to begin your search.

Here’s a list of marriage celebrants that we’ve recently welcomed into the One Stylish Bride community. All these marriage celebrants are registered and come highly recommended.

The groom is a talented singer in the band ‘Reform the Resistance’ and first set eyes on Jenna whilst working a side job as a barista. He managed to muster up the courage to ask her out and shortly after the pair became smitten.

The adorable couple chose to wed in a small, intimate wedding at The Red House in Franklin, Tennessee, United States. The venue choice was certainly fitting, given that both Jason and Jenna love music. They love music so much that it became the theme for their wedding. The Red House venue fit the theme wonderfully because the walls are adorned with gold records and a vast collection of rock-n-roll memorabilia.

We just love this couple, the unique venue, and the brides amazing wedding dress. Her dress was meticulously designed by her insanely gifted mother, which even incorporated vintage lingerie into the dress.
