Creative wording for wedding invitations…

This wedding invitation has certainly done the rounds in the wedding blog world. However, I couldn’t resist re-sharing it. Shoot me, it’s just so god damn cute and sort of resembles my love life to date. Notice there’s no graphics or anything too over the top; the reason being that this unique wedding invitation was totally DIYed. The wedding invitation was designed by the groom himself, Matt Dorfman. Talk about bringing the creativity back, such an awesome job!

Wedding invitations can really blow ones budget out of the water, with unusual wedding invitations often having price tags that will make your eyes water. Thus, I’m always excited when I find unique printable wedding invitations. I’m especially excited when the printable wedding invitations are for FREE, which is not a word heard often during wedding planning.

Needless to say, I was stoked when a friend of mine sent me a link to Love & Lavender, which offers free printable wedding invitations {the only thing they ask, is that you don’t alter their designs}. The selection is great, with my favorites being  the tandem bike invitation and the circus inspired save the date.

To fill the invitations in, open the pdfs in illustrator or the png file in photoshop and then add the words in those programs. Ahhh calligraphy, I love you! I’ve recently started to dabble in calligraphy and have fallen in love with the use of calligraphy for wedding invitations, menus, programs and signage. It’s just so undeniably romantic and personal {if DIY’ed}. Plus, makes for fantastically unique wedding stationary!

Swooning over these passport invitations for weddings by Ana de Roux…she even makes MINI passports for those on a budget {priced at $1.50 a pop}.

I’m specifically loving the pink boarding pass invitation, which feature orchid design, Thai background, tear off boarding pass RSVP postcard and dry embossed ticket jacket. These sure would make for awesome summer destination wedding invitations or destination wedding shower invitations!
