Kellee and Ben moonlight as writers and love a good laugh, a good book, a good coffee and good people. They held their ceremony in Vancouver at Ron Basford Park. The ceremony mood was set by Kellee’s brother and the lovely bridal party – her brother played the ukalali and the bridal party sang as she walked down the aisle. The ceremony was followed by a reception at Performance Works, which is now a rehearsal and performance venue, but was originally a machine shop dating back to the 1920′s.

All the beautiful ceremony and reception decorations were handmade and packed with charming sentiment. The couples love of books was shown throughout the venue with pages from novels strung from the rafters and the couples favourite books used as centerpieces. An old vintage typewriter was also used in place of a guestbook and set out for guests to leave their well wishes and advice.

This adorable Ohio couple wed on Zimmerman Island, a private residence in their hometown, where they brought all the aspects of their favourite place together for a charming Fiesta Wedding.

“Meredith and Alex were meant for each other. They went on a vacation to Mexico together, years before they went on their first date, but didn’t know they were there together. They each went with different groups, to the same resort. Word spread through the resort that there were two groups from Canton, Ohio. Years later when they went on their first date, those puzzle pieces fell together to lay the foundation for a romantic and heartfelt story that is their life.”

“Aaron and Tom were married at the super funky, colorful, comfortable space of Urban Light Studios in downtown Seattle. Their celebration was put together on the backs and love of family and friends. While the bridesmaids designed the invitations and baked delicious cake pops, another friend with a talent for barbecue cooked a feast for all their guests. Tom’s mother designed the florals, including the bouquets and boutonnieres, while Aaron created the gorgeous altar hanging for their ceremony.”

Here’s what Sophia had to say about the shoot, which took place in Rancho Santa Fe, California…

“This was a beautiful photo-shoot with a modern, bright and non-floral theme. This shoot creates stunning inspiration for brides wanting to see reception table decor, ceremony setup, and fun stationary and bridal couture.

Instead of using florals, I used a brooch bouquet, paper garland, pinwheels, fabulous linens and original stationary. This shoot was located at a private estate in Rancho Sante Fe never before used for photo-shoots.”

Abby and Kyle held their nuptials at the Idyllwilde Club House in Colorado amongst a sea of orange, brown and white. The couple are high school sweethearts who created their perfect wedding day with the help of family and friends.

Kristen and Jon wed at the Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church and held their reception at the River Club in Confluence Park. They chose a colour palette of green and purple and incorporated the colour palette all throughout their wedding. We spotted it in the bridesmaid’s dresses, the lush flowers, the table runners, and even in the homemade cotton candy wedding favors.

“Kristen and Jon met while both attending Miami University at Oxford in Ohio, so they are what students and Alumni would call a ‘Miami Merger’!

The Wedding took place in Columbus, Ohio and Kristen arranged for some very cool spots for wedding photos prior to the start of their ceremony. It all started with the rooftop first meeting with Kristen and Jon seeing each other for the first time. Then all 20 members of the wedding party got to ‘live out their dreams’ on the Ohio State football field as we had the stadium to ourselves for an hour. Then we headed for a posh spot of downtown called the Arena before heading to the church for the ceremony.”

“I can’t remember ever photographing a wedding with a more playful attention to detail. Stewart and Natalie were married at her parents beach house near Chincoteague, Virginia, in the smidge of a town called Assateague. It consists of Front Street, Back Street, and Courthouse Street. So cute!

Natalie had grown up visiting this house and it was only fitting to have her happiest day surrounded by her happiest memories. Their vision from the start was to have as much fun as possible, and besides the near-melting heat, it was a smashing success. The eclectic, handmade details and bright colors made it feel like a vibrant afternoon at a carnival fading into a nostalgic summer evening.”

The wedding took place at Lake House, Daylesford, Victoria and is reminiscent of a “summer picnic set in 1950. Relaxed, colourful and fun” explained Rowie.

We love that this wedding was filled to the brim with unique and wonderful wedding ideas. Rowie recalls “I spent a lot of time sourcing all the display points and researching online. For example the paper flags hanging around the marquee were all sourced from Mexico, they are traditional wedding flags.”

Then friends and family helped with all the creative projects. Rowie explained “mum made my tablecloth and table runner for the day. The tablecloth was made from her bedroom curtains from when she was 5! The girls I work with made the patchwork quilt from vintage blankets, it was for the guests to lounge around in the sun and helped to create a relaxed atmosphere. The doilies were mostly vintage, my Nanna gave me quite a few of them. I hand dyed them all, and guests loved them so much they all took one home.”

Rowie wore a stunning custom-made wedding dress, “I found a photo on ebay of a beautiful 1950s white lace dress, but it had sold so I took the photo to Amici Couture and she was amazing! The dress was exactly what I wanted.”

Rowie remarks “We didn’t really plan to have a colour theme, but Danny and I both love vintage so I guess it all pulled together as a theme of vintage brights.”

“We made batches of cherry tomato relish every weekend in the lead up to the wedding. Danny was in charge of chopping onions and I did the rest. I used fabric and bakers twine to decorate them and Danny made all the individual name tags” says Rowie.

Rowie explains what made the wedding unique and special for her, “It was amazing having the wedding so intimate, we wanted to be able to spend time with everyone who was there and so we only invited close family and friends. Everyone at the wedding knew each other, which was nice. We wanted the day to feel relaxed, almost like a summer picnic. Taking advantage of the blue skies, lake and all the beautiful surroundings really made the day. However we did kick off into the night, after the wedding was over we all headed down to the local pub ‘The Farmers Arms’ to have a few beers. I did get a few weird looks in my wedding dress but it was fun.”

“Setting everything up on the morning of the wedding! A 7am start to have all the decorating done, which was tight because we got married at noon.”

What was your favourite moment:

“Danny and I wrote our own vows and they were a surprise for the wedding day. Poor Danny got so emotional he struggled to read his out. That was a pretty sweet moment.”

What’s your advice:

“Do as much as you can in advance! plan plan plan!”

“Ash and Melissa are friends of mine from Calgary, and I was thrilled when they asked if I would photograph their wedding. I was even more excited when they said it would be in Kelowna, [Canada]. Growing up in Kelowna, I knew right away some of the spots I wanted to go to for photos, and they were better then I could have imagined!

It was a super fun day photographing my beautiful friends! I love photographing friends weddings because you really do get to experience the whole day with them, and be there and document their special day for them.”

And document Jessika did! We especially love the wedding pictures with the aqua backdrop and the wilderness. Breathtaking!
