Laura and Dylan’s Sydney Secret Garden Wedding 20.10.2014

What happens when an Interior Designer/Freelance Stylist starts planning her own wedding? A really unique and gorgeous wedding, that’s what!

Laura and Dylan tied the knot in one of Sydney’s most exquisite churches, St Mary’s Cathedral.

Their wedding theme was, “A Midsummer Nights Dream set within The Secret Garden,” says Laura. Their intimate reception was held in absolute seclusion out on Scotland Island at Bangalla. Guests arrived by boat and climbed the sandstone stairs to a magical garden full of fairy lights.

Hilary Cam Photography Sydney captured the wedding and recalls, “Their reception was dreamy and romantic with some modern and bold twists reflecting their creativity and individuality. Their reception was ethereal with woodland tablescapes with moss, scattered tea lights, mason jars and flowers.”

Laura handmade lots the wedding details with the assistance of Dylan and her father. Laura tells us, “I handmade all the little details. From our wedding invitations to the poles that held up the festoon lights that hung above the tables. My favourite DIY project was my personalized sign for Dylan that hung in the tree in front of us, [it read] ‘Every love story is beautiful but ours is my favourite’.”

Laura goes on to say, “[The] Bridal headpiece was [also] handmade, [as well as the] cake toppers and personalised water bottles.”

More from the bride:

What was your favourite moment of the day?

“A moment I will never forget was arriving to Bangalla by boat, climbing the 50 sandstone steps to enter the incredible garden where I saw that my whole vision had come to life. After months of planning and facing all the logistical challenges, such as bringing everything across to the island on a barge just the day prior, it was such a rewarding feeling to walk in and see all our guests (especially our international guests) mingling, drinking champagne, enjoying the music and absorbing the energy of the surroundings. To add to this euphoric feeling, it was my wedding day, so this was truly a very memorable moment.”

Congratulations to the lovely couple and thank you for sharing your wedding pictures and story with One Stylish Bride.

Alexandria and Jacob’s Farm Wedding 08.09.2014

This wedding combines rustic style with timeless handmade touches and the great outdoors.

Alexandria and Jacob wed on a charming farm in Pemberton, British Columbia, Vancouver. Their ceremony was held in a field with hay bails, burlap and over-sized balloons. This was followed by a cocktail hour, which included axe throwing and crochet.

The reception was set inside a rustic open aired barn lit by candles and strung fairy lights. The couple chose locally grown flowers for the tables and continued the theme by hiring local caterers, serving locally grown food, and providing beer brewed in Vancouver.

The clever bride designed the wedding herself and included paper cranes, glass bottles as vases, and even a salvaged wooden board that she made into the seating chart.

Anastasia Photography captured the wedding and tells us “Jake and Alexandria were lovely to photograph. The rest of the evening included the lighting of Eco-friendly paper wish lanterns and a barn dance that went on into the wee hours of the morning.”

This wedding makes us seriously ponder the inner workings of the bride’s mind, “how can one lady be blessed with such design awesomeness.” As far as we’re concerned, the over-sized flower bouquet, the plaid flannel shirt and the open aired barn are all golden ideas.

The 80′s Never Looked So Good 30.06.2014

Are you ready to geek out over the 80’s era? Here’s an 80’s inspired wedding shoot that will give you a mighty good excuse to do just that.

Three Little Birds Studio captured this shoot and explained, “As barn loving, outdoorsy photographers, we wanted to breath a little new life into the traditional neutral coloured, soft, barn wedding and have a little fun.

We got our inspiration from our models mothers wedding dress. That’s right, this gorgeous dress is straight out of the scrunchie wearing, bright coloured-loving 1980′s. Although this dress does feature the signature ‘poofy sleeve’ they fall gracefully off the shoulders, which gave it a hint of free loving prairie girl. So with the 80′s color and funk, and a hippie sense of earthy-ness we ended up with a bright, fun, new take on not only the barn wedding, but we also like to think we are bringing the 80′s back. Who knows [we’ll] maybe start a trend taking bridal pictures in mammas dress.”
