Laura and Dylan’s Sydney Secret Garden Wedding 20.10.2014

What happens when an Interior Designer/Freelance Stylist starts planning her own wedding? A really unique and gorgeous wedding, that’s what!

Laura and Dylan tied the knot in one of Sydney’s most exquisite churches, St Mary’s Cathedral.

Their wedding theme was, “A Midsummer Nights Dream set within The Secret Garden,” says Laura. Their intimate reception was held in absolute seclusion out on Scotland Island at Bangalla. Guests arrived by boat and climbed the sandstone stairs to a magical garden full of fairy lights.

Hilary Cam Photography Sydney captured the wedding and recalls, “Their reception was dreamy and romantic with some modern and bold twists reflecting their creativity and individuality. Their reception was ethereal with woodland tablescapes with moss, scattered tea lights, mason jars and flowers.”

Laura handmade lots the wedding details with the assistance of Dylan and her father. Laura tells us, “I handmade all the little details. From our wedding invitations to the poles that held up the festoon lights that hung above the tables. My favourite DIY project was my personalized sign for Dylan that hung in the tree in front of us, [it read] ‘Every love story is beautiful but ours is my favourite’.”

Laura goes on to say, “[The] Bridal headpiece was [also] handmade, [as well as the] cake toppers and personalised water bottles.”

More from the bride:

What was your favourite moment of the day?

“A moment I will never forget was arriving to Bangalla by boat, climbing the 50 sandstone steps to enter the incredible garden where I saw that my whole vision had come to life. After months of planning and facing all the logistical challenges, such as bringing everything across to the island on a barge just the day prior, it was such a rewarding feeling to walk in and see all our guests (especially our international guests) mingling, drinking champagne, enjoying the music and absorbing the energy of the surroundings. To add to this euphoric feeling, it was my wedding day, so this was truly a very memorable moment.”

Congratulations to the lovely couple and thank you for sharing your wedding pictures and story with One Stylish Bride.

Kelsey and James Whistler Wedding 15.09.2014

After seeing the first couple of photos from this winter wedding we were hooked.

Kelsey and James recently tied the knot at beautiful Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Center in Whistler, British Columbia.

Instead of letting the cold deter them, they embraced the chilly weather and the gorgeous little village of Whistler.

The bride tells us why they picked the location, “Jimmy and I are both incredibly social people with tight family bonds and long-time friendships. When it came time to make decisions on where to host our big day, Whistler Village felt like the perfect place that would allow for quality time with our favourite people even in the thick of hosting a wedding. We really treasure the amazing sense of community the village naturally creates, and anytime we went anywhere we ran into our guests. We saw friends and family while tubing at the tube park, on our many trips to Purebread bakery (reason enough to visit Whistler) and while drinking beers at apres-ski. It didn’t hurt that for most of our loved ones it was an excuse for a mini-vacation from nearby Seattle to one of the most beautiful snow-capped mountain backdrops the world has to offer.”

Kelsey goes on to say, “This same feeling of community was important for us to create at the wedding. There definitely wasn’t a theme, but more a vision to have it feel like we were having everyone over for a family style dinner with lots of great candlelight and rustic yummy bites. Little touches like our guests standing in a close circle around us for the ceremony, oysters on the half-shell during cocktail hour, and cafe lights strung behind the head table made it just that much more special.”

Morgan and BJ’s Outdoors Ranch Wedding 01.09.2014

We think outdoor ceremonies are so darn lovely and so do Morgan and BJ.

This adorable duo chose to have a relaxed outdoor ceremony at Rancho Mirando overlooking the lovely Texas hill country. The relaxed ceremony was followed by an elegant indoor reception at the same venue.

Addison Studios captured the wedding and tells us “Classic. Relaxed. Elegant. Morgan and BJ’s wedding reflected the personality of their relationship. The bride, a yoga instructor in Austin, chose a gorgeous gown that flowed as she walked over the pink and orange rose pedals towards her husband-to-be. It was a warm and inviting occasion, [with] outdoor breeze and positive energy.”

Our favourite things about this wedding: The bride’s gorgeous beaded gown, her braided hairstyle and her modern engagement ring. We’re also smitten with the outdoor ceremony and the lovely laid-back mood it created.
