But we’re certainly not the only ones loving yellow and grey. The colour combination has even caught the attention of bridal designers like Vera Wang, who now design wedding dresses in these hues. That’s not all – the options for bridesmaids and groomsmen are just as varied as they are delightful, and easily adapted to everyone’s taste.

Whether you choose a wedding gown of grey, yellow, or white, there are plenty of options for working shades of yellow and grey into your personal bridal look. Think jewellery, an accent sash, the right floral touch in your hair or bouquet – these are all easy and fun ways to accessorize your look.

So what shades should you use? We love the idea of pairing a pale buttery yellow with a charcoal contrast. But, we’re just as enthusiastic over pairing a bright or pale yellow with lighter greys, pewters, and grey-blues.

We especially adore the mood that this palette creates, which is over the top and amazingly indulgent. Plus, this colour combination can be either subtle or strong.

You could decorate your reception and wedding details with a pale blue and embellish sparingly with gold accents or you could go for over the top opulence and incorporate a dark blue and everything from gold place settings to gold floral arrangements.

If you would like to veer away from the bright and sometimes harsh pure white, ivory and cream are great options. These two colours are often confused with one another; the thing to remember is that both are darker than white, but that ivory is lighter than cream. The color of elephant tusks, ivory has just a little bit of yellow and a smidgen of black that gives it its off-white shading. Cream, however, has more yellow and black and is the colour of the fatty, yellowish substance that rises to top of unhomogenized milk.

It’s hard to go wrong with an ivory, green, and cream palette. Just remember to keep the green muted and gentle—mint, grass, fir, and even olive can work. Also, too much green might overwhelm the ivory and cream, so don’t go overboard. There’s nothing wrong with a green wedding dress, of course, if you so choose it. But with this palette, green shoes are far better than a green dress. Think of the ivory and cream as your canvas, and of green as your paint. Use different shades of green, but stay on the softer side.

Gather all the white accessories and décor that you find prettiest, and voila! Just make sure to add texture to your theme, because darlings, that’s the secret to a purely white palette that’s anything but boring. It can mean having little ruffles on your wedding shoes, or wearing a distressed Lucite necklace like the one we found below. And if you think that too much white makes everything feel cold and isolated, you can, of course, have little splashes of color here and there. But if you want the elegance of the white to stand out, your accents must be in very soft baby pastel colors or super tamed down neutrals.

The intensity of the white is also an important thing to consider. Do you want a stark raving chalk white? Or how about soft white, the color of newly fallen snow? Whichever shade you choose, white in your wedding says this, “This is a day of peace and comfort, of new beginnings.”

If you’re young (or young at heart) and are digging a delicate and calming wedding colour combination, why not consider pretty pastels. We especially love the combination of pastel blue, pastel yellow, and pastel pink.

We suggest getting a little playful with this colour combination and experimenting with non-traditional fashion elements such as chunky pink shoes and creased yellow knee socks. After all, this colour combination is all about youthful fun and whimsical charm!

A splash of soft color here and there can keep everything from appearing too somber, and don’t forget that black and white go well with mostly everything. Why not incorporate touches of lavender, pink, sea green, or saffron to balance out the stiffness?

But if you want to go all-out with the formal feel, you can add some décor in silver or gray, red, or gold. For a fresh, happy change, you can also opt for bright and cheery flowers.

The blue and white color combo is classic and certainly very easy on the eyes. You can opt for a royal blue or super-saturated teal, which has a formal “in the navy” feel to it.

You could also combine this warm colour with other bold hues, such as black or red, and come up with a very dramatic palette. Pairing gold with softer shades such as lavender, pink, or a subtle brown, is perfect for any type of wedding, be it formal or destination.
