Sarah Janks’ modern, ready-to-wear wedding dresses are far from being ordinary.
Her dresses have timeless, classic shapes that she gives a modern twist to, with attention to detail and expert cutting. Her debut collection, Tempus, was inspired by the memories of a bygone era, with all the time in the world devoted to romance.
Handcrafted embellishments, the finest fabrics, and—get this—a patented corseted powermesh lining come together to produce sturdy and fashionable gowns. The collection ranges from show-stopping princess ball gowns to floaty dresses in barely-there chiffons, giving you a wide array of choices.
But who is Sarah Janks? She is a pattern cutter by trade who was raised in South Africa, where she graduated from the London International School of Fashion with honours. She was a finalist in the Smirnoff International Student Fashion Competition twice, and in 1997 represented South Africa in London.
She then worked for two of the top couturiers in South Africa and apprenticed with Prince William’s uniform makers in London. This was a permanent move for Sarah; for almost a decade, she worked in London with labels such as Roland Mouret, Jenny Packham, Hamish Morrow, and Jonathan Saunders. Today, she has relocated to sunny Sydney, Australia to spend time with family.
