Now here’s a wedding reception idea worth trying out, chic DIY string spheres.

Joyful Weddings and Events developed this gorgeous idea after taking part in a DIY design challenge where the guidelines were to create a modern table-scape that focused on something besides flowers. These string spheres look so fancy it’s hard to believe they’re DIY’ed and only cost pennies to create.

To recreate this, blow up a balloon, dip string into a glue mixture, wind the string around the balloon, pop the balloon and voila you’ll have some instant beauty. For those of you who are visual learners, check out Wednesday Custom Designs for a step by step tutorial.

Another fabulous trick is to customize this idea by adding food coloring or dye to the glue mixture. You can hang these string spheres as chandeliers, fill a glass vase with them on your table, or tie them to the ceremony chairs – the possibilities are simply endless.
